RESCUE 4

Rescue 4

1954 Dodge M-43

Originally known as "Rescue 45", this unit was later redesignated as "Rescue 4" as part of a county-wide apparatus numbering system. Rescue 4 was a used army ambulance that was acquired by the department, refurbished in-house by department members, and placed into service in 1977. Rescue 4 carried an assortment of firefighting and light duty rescue equipment and was the first medical assist vehicle for the department's Quick Response Team which was formed in 1978. This unit was retired in 1991 after 14 years of service when it was replaced by the 1991 International/Swab that served as Squad 4 (Rescue 4).
