ATTENTION MEMBERS: NEW AED IN SERVICE

The new AED has arrived and is in service. Rescue 4 and Engine 4-1 are both now carrying LIFEPAK 1000 AEDs and Tanker 4 is carrying the LIFEPAK 500 AED.



DRILLING WITH COMPANY 5

Monthly training for May involved a series of drills in the basement of the fire hall on search techniques and hoseline management. A crew from Arendtsville (Engine 5-1) joined us this month and the personnel from both departments rotated through the drills while also incorporating some pump operator training.

   


ONE TRAPPED ON MOUNT CARMEL ROAD

At 0143 hrs, crews were alerted to the 500 block of Scott School Road for a vehicle accident. Deputy Chief 4 (Six) arrived to find a single vehicle with one trapped with a corrected address of the 500 block of Mount Carmel Road. Based on the condition of the occupant, air medical was requested immediately and a landing zone was established next to the Knouse Foods pond in the village of Orrtanna. Rescue 4 (Chief Bowling) arrived with 5 personnel and went to work on stabilization of the vehicle and extrication of the patient. Engine 4-1 (Lt. Mooney) arrived shortly thereafter and assisted the Rescue crew. A complete roof removal was performed to extricate the patient who was then transported by Ambulance 2A to the landing zone where LifeNet 8-1 was waiting. Crews picked up and returned to service at 0307 hrs.

ONE IN THE DITCH

Company 4, Rescue 1, and Ambulance 1A were dispatched at 1812 hrs to the intersection of Chambersburg Rd and Fairview Fruit Rd in McKnightstown for a vehicle accident. Deputy Chief 4 (Six) arrived to find a single vehicle in a ditch with a single occupant out of the vehicle who refused EMS. With no services needed, crews cleared at 1830 hrs.
